About Professional Recognition

EFI Professional Ethics & Ethicality Recognition recognises professionals who demonstrate a sustained commitment to ethics and ethicality through learning, reflective practice, supervision or mentoring, peer dialogue and contribution to the wider professional community.

Recognition reflects evidence gathered over a two-year recognition period and is independently reviewed by the EFI Recognition Council.

The EFI Professional Ethics & Ethicality Recognition Framework

Professional Recognition is assessed across four components:

1. Ethics Learning

Demonstrate continued ethics-focused learning and development through recognised education, training and reflective learning.

2. Professional Supervision or Mentoring

Demonstrate sustained engagement in professional supervision, mentoring or reflective dialogue that supports ethical practice and professional judgement.

3. Peer Dialogue on Ethics

Demonstrate participation in ethics-focused peer discussions that encourage reflection, shared learning and exploration of ethical dilemmas.

4. Ethics-Focused Professional Engagement & Contribution

Demonstrate contribution to ethics and ethicality through activities such as writing, presenting, teaching, research, professional dialogue or other ethics-focused initiatives.:

Eligibility

Professional Recognition is open to professionals worldwide across all professions, disciplines and sectors who meet the published recognition requirements.

Applicants must demonstrate evidence across the four components of the EFI Professional Ethics & Ethicality Recognition Framework over the most recent two-year recognition period.

The Recognition Process

Stage 1 – Application Review

  • Complete the online application.
  • Submit evidence across all five application sections.
  • Pay the €250 Application Review Fee.
  • Independent review by the EFI Recognition Council.

Stage 2 – Recognition

Applicants whose application is approved will be invited to complete the final stage of the recognition process.

  • Pay the €150 Recognition & Directory Fee.
  • Complete your EFI Recognition Directory profile.
  • Receive your EFI Recognition Certificate.
  • Receive your personalised Digital Recognition Badge.
  • Be listed in the EFI Recognition Directory.

Fees & Renewal

Professional Recognition

EFI Recognition for Professionals is €400 for a two-year cycle (e.g., 2025–2026).

Payment Structure

  • Application Review Fee: €250 (non-refundable, payable on submission).
  • Recognition & Directory Fee: €150 (non-refundable, payable only if your application is approved).

Renewal

Recognition is awarded for a two-year recognition period.

Renewal requires updated evidence across all four components of the EFI Professional Ethics & Ethicality Recognition Framework together with a completed Integrity & Complaints Declaration.

Recognition Status

Use of the EFI Recognition CertificateDigital Recognition Badge and recognition designation is permitted only while recognition remains current and the recipient is listed in the EFI Recognition Directory.

Continued or unauthorised use of the certificate, badge or recognition designation after recognition has expired, been withdrawn or otherwise ceased may be considered misuse of EFI Recognition and may result in a delay of up to one year before a further application for recognition will be considered.

Membership & Access

EFI Recognition is open to both members and non-members.

EFI members receive preferential application rates as part of their membership benefits. If you are not an EFI member, you are still welcome to apply; you will need to create a free EFI account before beginning your application.

Your free account gives you access to the recognition application process and allows you to manage your application.

In addition to Professional Recognition, EFI will launch pathways for Organisations, Institutions, and Corporations. These will carry distinct requirements and pricing structures, reflecting their wider scope and responsibilities.
