Ethics Forum International (EFI) offers Recognition in Ethics & Ethicality (E&E) recognition pathways for professionals, organisations, and corporations who demonstrate a sustained commitment to ethicality in practice.

E&E Recognition is more than a symbol, it is a visible and credible assurance that learning, reflection, and accountability are lived out in professional life. It strengthens trust, enhances credibility, and supports ethical leadership across professions and societies.

E&E Recognition does not replace profession-specific accreditation, regulation, or accountability mechanisms; rather, it complements them by recognising sustained ethical engagement across domains and sectors.

Why Ethical Discernment and Ethicality Matter

Across contemporary professional life, trust, ethical competence, and responsible action are increasingly recognised as core markers of credibility. Technical expertise alone is no longer sufficient; clients, employers, partners, and communities now look for evidence of ethical judgment, reflective capability, relational awareness, and accountability in practice. Recognition is awarded on the strength of the evidence submitted and the outcome of independent review. EFI membership is not required for recognition, although members receive preferential application rates where applicable.

How E&E Recognition Works

Membership & Access

EFI Recognition is open to both members and non-members.

EFI members receive preferential application rates as part of their membership benefits. If you are not an EFI member, you are still welcome to apply; you will need to create a free EFI account before beginning your application.

Your free account gives you access to the recognition application process and allows you to save and manage your application.

Application & Fees

• All applications include a non-refundable review fee (amount varies by pathway).
• If approved, applicants are invited to pay the non-refundable recognition fee.
• Recognition is awarded for a renewable multi-year recognition period. The recognition period varies according to the pathway and includes a certificate, digital badge, and listing in the EFI Recognition Directory.
• Payment terms and total fees vary by pathway.

Review Schedule

Applications are reviewed twice a year (March & August). Submissions received are considered in the next review cycle.

The EFI E&E Recognition Council reviews all applications to ensure fairness, consistency and alignment with the EFI E&E Recognition Framework.

Directory Listing

Approved applicants are published in the EFI E&E Recognition Directory, providing visible assurance of ethical commitment to clients, partners, and communities worldwide.

Use of the EFI E&E recognition badge and certificate is permitted only by those listed in the current E&E Recognition Directory. Misuse may result in removal from the directory and withdrawal of recognition.

Renewal

At the end of each recognition period, renewal requires reapplication and submission of updated evidence of learning, reflection and accountability. Renewal follows the same review process and fee structure as the initial application.

EFI Ethics & Ethicality Recognition is available across four recognition pathways. Each pathway has eligibility criteria, evidence requirements, a recognition period and a fee structure appropriate to the applicant’s type, governance and operating context.

Professional E&E Recognition

For individual professionals across all disciplines.

Association & Small Business E&E Recognition

Professional associations, independent education providers, small businesses and other organisations with comparable governance.

Institution & Organisation E&E Recognition

Universities, colleges, charities, research institutes, public sector organisations and other organisations with established governance.

Corporation E&E Recognition

National companies, regional enterprises, multinational corporations, corporate groups, and other organisations operating across multiple business units, locations or jurisdictions.
