About EFI Institutions & Organisations Recognition
EFI Institutions & Organisations Ethics & Ethicality Recognition is intended for organisations with established governance structures and institutional responsibilities that demonstrate an active and sustained commitment to ethics and ethicality.
Recognition provides independent assurance that ethicality is supported through organisational governance, leadership, learning, accountability and community contribution. It does not certify that an organisation is without ethical challenges. Rather, it recognises the presence and active use of structures, processes and practices that support ethical awareness, responsibility, reflection, responsiveness and continual development.
Institutions and organisations differ in purpose, scale, governance and regulatory context. Applications are therefore considered within the context of each organisation while maintaining a consistent recognition standard across the four EFI Institutions & Organisations Recognition Pillars.
Why Ethics & Ethicality Recognition Matters
Organisations increasingly seek to demonstrate that ethics is more than a published statement or compliance requirement. EFI Recognition provides independent acknowledgement that ethicality is actively embedded within organisational governance, learning, accountability and contribution.
Recognition offers visible assurance to staff, members, learners, partners, clients, regulators and other stakeholders that the organisation has demonstrated evidence of sustained ethical commitment through an independent assessment process conducted by the EFI Recognition Council.
Recognition reflects an organisation’s ongoing commitment to developing ethical capacity, supporting responsible decision-making and contributing positively to its profession, sector or community.
Recognition Framework
Recognition is based on evidence across four interconnected pillars that together demonstrate an organisation’s commitment to ethics and ethicality.
1. Ethical Infrastructure
Ethics embedded within governance, leadership, organisational decision-making and ongoing organisational development.
2. Ethics Training & Learning
A sustained commitment to developing ethical awareness, judgement and capacity through education, professional development and ongoing learning.
3. Safeguards & Accountability
Accessible and proportionate processes for raising concerns, responding appropriately, learning from ethical challenges and strengthening organisational practice.
4. Community Contribution
Active contribution to ethical learning, dialogue, scholarship and the advancement of ethical practice within the organisation’s profession, sector or wider community.
